Spine Biomechanics

The Spine Biomechanics group was founded in November 2020 at the Balgrist Campus to perform translational research in the interface between fundamental biomechanical research and the development of clinically applicable methods. Under the lead of Dr. Jonas Widmer, group leader of Spine Biomechanics, a multitude of peer-reviewed studies have been published on biomechanical and computational topics of the spine. Located at the Balgrist Campus, the interdisciplinary group greatly benefits from the proximity to the University Hospital Balgrist allowing a direct exchange and collaboration between spine surgeons and technical experts.
